Problems

As your product portfolio expands, the time taken to qualify each part increases exponentially. For example, selling a new disk drive may involve re-qualifying it in every product. This is very repetitive and time intensive.

Minor changes can create intermittent faults in a complex system. These are hard to detect and even harder to repeat consistently so that they can be diagnosed and fixed.

Performance testing, benchmarking and ongoing reliability testing is also extremely expensive when manual intervention is required.

The Quarch Solution

The Torridon Test System enables automated removal and insertion of hot-swappable devices. A Drive, Canister/IO Module or Power Supply may be inserted/removed from a system in a fully programmable and 100% repeatable manner.

A set of standard tests will allow rapid qualification of new drives and new software. This will allow a larger range of products to be supported with far less cost. The more in-depth testing will increase reliability and confidence in your products.

Accurate and repeatable benchmarking will allow faster and more accurate comparisons between different systems. Complex timing and fault injection scenarios can be used to verify standards compliance.

A qualification system can be setup so that each drive can be connected / disconnected from the host. Tests that require manual intervention can now be fully automated.

By running tests 24 hours a day, at high speed, the total time to complete a test cycle can be greatly reduced. Around 90% of the manual effort can be removed.

Entire ranges of new tests such as data corruption and drive failure can be added with little extra effort.

Qualification Test Systems

Torridon Array Controllers are ideally suited for larger systems where multiple drives, SBB canisters, etc are tested at the same time. In this way, every removable part of the system can be tested without the need to alter any part of the physical setup.

Multiple Array Controllers can be chained together to allow test of very large systems. Torridon 'Lite' modules are ideal for bigger systems where cost is a more critical factor.
